Be careful what you mean by "so little code" there!!

It may be only a little user code - but it relies on a great deal of Library code.

If you happened to have such a library, then it would be just as easy on an 8051!

Yes, of course it is - because so much of the basic, standard stuff is already done for you in the libraries.

But, when you need to go beyond that, it's just like any other microcontroller...
