Is there anything to add, after 10 years?

The 8051 is doing quite well in Asia, and I'd estimate there were more 8051's released in the last 12 months than AVRs.
What is emerging, is that those new 8051's are not like the old intel ones.

* They nearly all have ADCs, even on the smallest variants.
* On-Chip debug is common
* Wide Vcc is the new default

SiLabs have the expanding EFM8 series, and some examples, from others (that also make Cortex parts, so they do not see an 'ARM-Only' world.
* Nuvoton have data up on 1T cores and a solid series of 4T devices
* Holtek have recently added a range of 8051
* SyncMOS expand their families
* ABOV have a burst of new part 8051 numbers
* Myson now mention 1.8~5.5V parts.
* STC continue to expand their 8051 families
