What it is doing is checking the TI bit, which indicates when the byte has been transmitted. Failing to clear TI could cause some characters to be missed. Serial transmission is slow relative to program execution; so, if you don't wait for TI, you will be loading new data into SBUF before transmission of the previous byte has completed - hence the transmission will be corrupted. |
