Back to News List

SAN JOSE, CA -- Embedded Systems Conference 2000 -- Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. today announced availability of its C8051F002, a high performance microcontroller featuring precision analog 12-bit data conversion capabilities and FLASH programmability in a 32-pin package. The C8051F002 is supported by Cygnal's $99 development kit, a comprehensive development tool with capabilities typically found only in emulators costing thousands of dollars.

"The 'F002 combines the flexibility of in-system programmability with a 20 MIPS 8051 CPU and precision 12-bit analog features," says Don Alfano, Cygnal's Vice President of Marketing. "This product introduction underscores Cygnal's commitment to provide highly integrated, mixed-signal solutions that increase our customers' end-system flexibility and speed their time-to-market."

The C8051F002 features an 8051 code-compatible CPU that delivers up to 20 MIPS at 20 MHz, 32Kbytes of in-system programmable FLASH memory, UART, SMBusTM, and SPITM serial interfaces, four 8051-style timers, and a five-channel, programmable counter array (PCA). Analog peripherals include a four channel, 12-bit analog-to-digital converter, a temperature sensor, two 12-bit digital-to-analog converters, a voltage comparator, and voltage reference.

The C8051F002 is available in a 32-pin LQFP and sells for $12.13 in 1,000 piece quantities, and the C8051F000DK development kit sells for $99.00. Both are available for purchase at http://www.silabs.com.
