Cygnal Continues Expansion of its Mixed-Signal Product Portfolio
Back to News List

AUSTIN, TX (20-Oct-2000) -- Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. today announced the continued expansion of its portfolio of FLASH programmable, mixed-signal solutions with the availability of the C8051F012, a high-performance, 8051 code-compatible microcontroller featuring precision analog 10-bit data conversion capabilities. The C8051F012 is Cygnal's fourth new product introduction in as many months and is supported by Cygnal's $99 development kit - a comprehensive development tool with capabilities typically found only in emulators costing thousands of dollars.

"The introduction of the C8051F012 underscores our commitment to meeting customer needs with a rapidly expanding portfolio of field programmable, mixed-signal solutions," said Todd Levy, Cygnal's Director of Worldwide Sales. "We currently have over 200 customer designs in progress based on our C8051F family. These designs span a variety of applications including communications, industrial automation, consumer, and transportation."

The C8051F012 features an 8051 code-compatible CPU that delivers up to 20 MIPS at 20 MHz, 32Kbytes of in-system programmable FLASH memory, UART, SMBusTM, and SPITM serial interfaces, four 8051-style timers, and a five-channel, programmable counter array (PCA). Analog peripherals include a four-channel, 10-bit analog-to-digital converter, a temperature sensor, two 12-bit digital-to-analog converters, a voltage comparator, and a voltage reference.

"The accelerating pace of our product introductions is fueling our market momentum," said Don Alfano, Cygnal's Vice President of Marketing. "As we continue to expand our product portfolio, we are providing more solutions to our customers in a greater number of application spaces. As a result, customers can select the specific product which maximizes their price-performance and time-to-market advantages."

The C8051F012 is available in a 32-pin LQFP and sells for $10.23 in 1,000 piece quantities, and the C8051F010DK development kit sells for $99.00. Both are available for purchase at http://www.cygnal.com.
